the picture of love

When I first saw this picture online I thought it both beautiful and sad. It was easy to see before reading the story behind it what the picture was about. It was about love, a special kind of love between a dog and a man. I don't know what it is about animals, dogs in particular, that touch my heart so but it's stories like this one that reinforce the pure love and appreciation I feel for wonderful canine companions like this dog named Schoep.

When it's hot outside I know a cool place to go inside. It's the Children's Museum in Edwardsville, a great place for kids to play, learn, and use their imagination. Mel and I had lots of fun there with our grandsons, and I think they liked it too. :)

Galveston Family Vacation 2012

There are some times you wish you could go back and relive again and again. Our family vacation this year is one of those times for me. Making memories surrounded by people (and dogs) you love is a wonderful thing. Thanks Mark, Fred, Mandy, Naveen, Jake, Danielle, Emily, Eric, and of course Winnie and Lola for a 7-day, fun-filled vacation!!
